The HP LaserJet 6P, 6Pse, 6Pxi, and 6MP series printers feature professional, high-quality laser printing. The printers include a job cancel button, an eight page per minute engine, a 24-MHz processor, 600 x 600 dpi printing with Resolution Enhancement technology (REt), enhanced business graphics and images with 128 levels of gray, and the HP PCL 6 printer language. Adobe PostScript Level II printer language is also included with the HP LaserJet 6MP series printer.
The printer has 110 TrueType fonts: 45 in the printer plus 65 additional fonts with the new HP FontSmart font management software on a disk for Windows. The HP LaserJet 6MP series printer also has 35 built-in PostScript language fonts. The HP LaserJet 6P, 6Pse, and 6Pxi series printers have 2 MB RAM with Memory Enhancement technology; the HP LaserJet 6MP series printer has 3 MB RAM with Memory Enhancement technology.
The HP LaserJet 6P, 6Pse, 6Pxi, and 6MP series printers have two standard paper trays with a capacity in Tray 1 of 100 sheets/ten envelopes and a capacity in Tray 2 of 250 sheets. The printers handle a variety of paper sizes and types.
The printers also feature two bidirectional, industry standard ECP IEEE 1284-compliant parallel ports, one LocalTalk port, and one fast, wireless 4 MBPS IrDA-compliant infrared port. The printer will automatically switch between ports when multiple connections to the printer are used. Optional HP Jetdirect external network print servers provide easy printer sharing.

Automatic language switching
When optional printer languages (such as PostScript) are installed, the printer automatically determines and switches to the appropriate language for the print job.
Enhanced memory and memory expansion
The HP LaserJet 6P, 6Pse, and 6Pxi series printers come with 2 MB of memory and can be expanded to 50 MB with the three available memory (SIMM) slots. Most documents can be printed using the standard amount of printer memory with the aid of Memory Enhancement technology (Met). Met automatically compresses data, virtually doubling the printer’s memory and allowing more complex printing with available memory.
The HP LaserJet 6MP series printer comes with 3 MB of memory and can be expanded to 35 MB with the two available memory (SIMM) slots. The third memory slot is used for the PostScript language SIMM. The PostScript SIMM includes Adobe Memory Booster Technology (Adobe MBT), which allows more complex printing at 600 dpi with available memory.
